About me

I am a Glass Artist based in Cartmel on the edge of one of the most beautiful parts of the country, the Lake District.

I first learnt the art of working with stained glass about 16 years ago, constructing leaded lights and windows. I expanded my skills, using the Tiffany copper foil method to assemble pieces before progressing to the art of fusing glass to produce distinctive, one-off pieces of fused glass art.  In 2011, after being made redundant I decided to turn what up until then had been a past-time into a business.

Over the years I have designed and made numerous practical and decorative pieces of glass art, often to order.  These range from windows, practical bowls, plates and coasters to wall art and sun catchers and even clocks.

I particularly enjoy the versatility and creativity that glass fusion allows, as well as the scope that it offers for experimentation, to produce unique designs and individual pieces of fused glass art.  I design my pieces taking inspiration from the landscape and seasonal changes and from the everyday sights and scenes that I see.  Each piece of glass is individually hand cut before being assembled to form the design.  It is then fired in a kiln, sometimes several times, in order for the glass pieces to melt and fuse together in order to achieve the desired effect and the finished product.

Every finished item is hand crafted and therefore unique, and no two will ever be identical.  Due to the unpredictable manner in which glass can react when exposed to intense heat they may include tiny bubbles or other inclusions which simply add to the beauty and individuality of the design.

Please look at my gallery and should you require something just that bit more personalised and bespoke I would be only too happy to discuss your ideas and to offer a free no obligation quotation.  And if you see something that you particularly like, that is not available, it could be reproduced to a similar design and in colours of your own choice.

Feel free to contact me for more information.
