Pot melts

Fused glass Pot melts are made but collecting lots of pieces of coloured glass and placing them into a plant pot which is supported by bricks inside the kiln. The kiln is turned on and raised to a very high temperature and held at that temperature for an hour or until all the glass has melted and flowed out of the hole in the bottom of the pot and onto the kiln shelf to form a disc. The effects are random and unpredictable as they not only depend on the colours and placement of the glass but also by the shape, size and number of holes in the plant pot.

Below are just a few of the pot melts that I've made.

Mounted on slate from the Lake District and can be placed in an empty space.

Some have have been finished with lead came and small rings attached to the back so that they may be hung either in a window or on a wall.
